Are you in a job or career where you are counting down the hours until you can leave? Unfortunately, not everyone is in a job they love because 1) they need the money and 2) they don’t know how to find a job they love. If you want a happy, successful career, it’s vital to take the risk today to start finding a job where you will want to be there and that you love. Here are 4 tips to find a job you’ll love:

What are you passionate about?

What gets you out of bed every morning? Think of the things you are passionate about and what type of job aligns with those passions. Okay, it can be hard to find a job that exactly lines up with what you love, but try to find one that can help you get to the point where you are in a position that you are passionate about.

Find a company/brand you love.

Piggybacking on the previous point, it’s important to find a company or a brand that has the same values that you have or that is in the space that you are passionate about. You obviously have brands or companies that you love, think about why you love them. Take those insights and apply for jobs at those companies or find a company with similar values.

Company culture

If you love a company’s values and it aligns with your passions, all is good right? Not so fast… The actual culture within the company and in the teams is something you need to look at. If you go in for an interview and you see the employees down and it just doesn’t feel right for you, this could mean that this isn’t the right culture fit. You could be working for the coolest company in the world but if the culture isn’t a right fit for you, it can be hard to love your job there.

Eliminate money from the equation

What good is making a lot of money if you hate your job? Look, we all need money and having great compensation is one of the top things you should look at in a job. However, if it comes down to making more money or having your dream job, try to eliminate money from the equation. Money is important but it isn’t everything. Try to compare the jobs based on how happy and passionate you are about the job, not based on the monetary compensation you will receive.
