Plant Controller Job Description
A Plant Controller in Utah owns the financial management of a manufacturing facility or business unit. They work daily with production, operations, and supply chain leaders to keep cost data accurate and performance visibility tight. Standard costing, inventory management, and variance analysis are the core of the job. This is not a desk role. A Plant Controller who has never walked the floor will miss things that matter. In multi-plant environments, the Plant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller or VP of Finance. What to Look For in a Utah Plant Controller
- Manufacturing accounting background is non-negotiable
- Strong standard costing expertise: COGS, variances, overhead allocation
- ERP experience in a manufacturing environment: SAP, Oracle, or Epicor are the most common in Utah
- Inventory management and cycle count program experience
- Comfortable on the plant floor. This is an operations-adjacent role.
- Utah base comp typically $90K to $130K. Larger multi-plant environments pay at the top.
