Director of Accounting Job Description
The Director of Accounting in Utah oversees all accounting operations: general ledger management, month-end and year-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting. They lead the team, drive process improvements, and keep GAAP compliance tight. In tech companies, this often means owning revenue recognition under ASC 606. In multi-entity companies, it means managing consolidations and intercompany eliminations. The close needs to be right, and this person makes sure it is.

What to Look For in a Utah Director of Accounting
- CPA required for most companies. Public accounting background preferred.
- 7-plus years of accounting experience including direct team leadership
